Bao is a Bonded Artifact in Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Description

This rodent in a stronglass sphere was one of three that lived with Madelia Glittering. After misfortune struck Madelia, Bao agreed to travel with you. Bao's precise nature, and the extent of her intelligence, are a mystery to you. Still, her nose twitches excitedly whenever you look at her, and you sense that she is enjoying her travels with you.

Location

• Cliff's Edge: You can buy her from Madelia Glittering if you delay completing Shaky Foundations long enough for her house to collapse (i.e. rest a couple of times when the quest is on).
  • Note that this can affect other quests in the area, so it might be best to first finish other Sagus quests, before resting to collapse the house.

Trivia

• Bao is a reference to Boo from the Baldur's Gate series. Boo was a "miniature giant space hamster" that belonged to Minsc, one of the protagonist's companions. The blinding ability is a reference to Minsc's battle cry "Go for the eyes, Boo!", and the drawback is a reference to Minsc's below average intelligence and wisdom scores.
