Master Foreman is a character in Torment: Tides of Numenera.
Background[ | ]
The construct looms over you, frozen in mid-step. Its heavy limbs and barreled body have been recently polished by careful hands, but the joints themselves are completely fused. This creature hasn't moved in a long time. It studies you with eyes made of swirling orange fire.
The Foreman is the leader of the constructs of the Manufactory and according to his account, the architects of the city above. He and his "people" were once the tools of the Cartographers and their web of machine intelligences, working towards their will. When they disappeared, the constructs froze in place - and remained so ever since. While other constructs gave into despair, the Foreman believed that it was a gift of free will, allowing them to become their own masters. And so they did.
The Master Foreman has lately been thinking about ways to create constructs not from metal and synth but from organic materials - corpses, basically - and scavenged numenera. When interacted with, he talks about the purity of his pools, and the stagnation of the others. How he was haunted by the long ruin of the city, and how he dreamed of rebuilding it. The Foreman can comment on its two comrades - the Master Artisan, which has devoted itself to creating objects of finer craftsmanship, and the Crippled Foreman, which has developed an urge to procreate and is no longer part of daily labor in the manufactory.
