The Specter is a companion in Torment: Tides of Numenera, though not in the usual sense, since he is confined to the Castoff's Labyrinth. He is a composite of the Last Castoff's thoughts and memories, created upon impact with the ground when the castoff was born.

Everything about this figure seems dreamlike. He is a hazy silhouette of green-glass smoke, wearing stylish, well-cut clothes. His jade eyes are fixed on you.
His handsome, bearded face seems hauntingly familiar, though to the best of your recollection you've never seen him before. His jaw is strong; he looks as if he contains great power in his lithe frame.

- The Specter gives you your first objectives after reconstituting your mind and generating your Castoff. He's a figment of your psyche - and once you are done interrogating him, the Sorrow appears and attacks. The Specter then instructs you in resolving Crises and helps defeat the Sorrow latching onto your mind.
